Scottish Hit Squad

The Scottish Hit Squad is the leading Mixed Martial Arts gym in Scotland, which is home to UFC fighter Paul Craig, Bellator fight Chris Bungard as well as many other top athletes.

 The Hit Squad website was created years ago and at this point is a little outdated compared to other websites in their field. I thought it would be a good idea to freshen up this site. At the time of this I was using Adobe Muse to create my work.

Adobe Muse

For anybody unfamiliar with Muse here is the synopsis

 “Adobe Muse is an offline website builder that allows to create fixed, fluid, or adaptive websites without having to write code. It generates static pages but does not manage hosting.”

The only aspect I had to keep was the same colour scheme as the previous website which is red, black and white. I wanted to keep it pretty clean and simple to navigate as well as showcasing a lot of their fighters by using a variety of images.

I also wanted to use these images to show any visitors to the site what it would be like training at the Scottish Hit Squad and the type of classes you would be attending and some of the people you would be training with. I then used the images to break up the site into sections and different elements and make it a little more modern than the previous version, and anybody thinking about training there would like to see what kind of environment they would be training in.

Coach Brian wanted to easily display each class with their dates and times on the site - which he could also update if needed. I mainly picked a simple layout to easily work on Mobile phones. This would be important as there may be last-minute changes to classes, so it would be easy enough to find that out. What I really wanted to do was to highlight a few of the fighters who regularly attend the gym - who vary from all ages, size and backgrounds. I emphasized this further by taking my own photos during a typical training session and showcasing what this may look like. Hopefully this will emphasize the friendship and brotherhoods that exist within the Scottish Hit Squad and encourage people to take up the sport or give it a chance for themselves.

Come train
